Quake II:Evolved Mapping & Modding Questions

Hi i'm Maran,
I'm looking for Documentation on Mapping for Q2E.

The first question that came to mind is "How do you get lights to work?"
i've noticed each map has a .txt equivalent that houses the light information.
I can hand-write lighting but i'd preffer not to.

It’s been a long time and I assume you are talking about the PPL release of Q2E?

Lights were set up in a text file back then and used the viewPos coords to correctly
place them in the map.

I believe what I used to so was decompile the bsp, load the map into an editor and place the lights where I needed, stealing their X Y Z info for the file :)

That's how it was done? Man, that coder was as useless as an ashtray in a motorbike.
