Not a half bad bake mate, and a good tris count, nice one chief :D

I upgraded all my parts, and it runs everything amazing... except for running haha, need a new PSU, its shitting out when under load. So, that's on order, and will be here tomorrow. But I can still model and texture in the mean time.

But I was pulling 100fps in Quake 2 RTX with everything max at 1080p, so that's perfect :D

Well done both, love all this, super fantastic stuff. Will hopefully be back to join you tomorrow, bloody computers haha!

As for my new upgrade, it’s a Ryzen 7 2700x, 16gb Corsair (sadly I had to go 16gb for now, as I needed the extra cash for the new PSU), and a 2080ti.

I need to take a look at what animation is like for md3. It’s a shame we have to use that but that’s the best we got boys...

My only suggestion is that you add more depth to those yellow lights on the sides so they give you a deeper normal map, apart from that it looks great ;)

I've got them working in Q2RTX, but for some reason, they wont use spec, at all. No reflection, no spec, nothing. They are set up the same as RTX (spec in the normal map alpha mask), so not sure why that is... To be fair, its really, really poor, and isn't very good at all for this stuff :( The whole thing code and usability wise is a mess!

I think the worst part is how it handles the files and folder structures, and I think some spec maps or all are just generated from the diffuse.

I honestly have no idea... theres a control file for telling the game what to render, and how. But the original assets before I replaced with mine were all set up beforehand, so in short, they should have the same things. Totally confused...?

Also is it just me, or do textures blur and fade out over barely nay distance at all? They changed all the cvars so I have no idea what to set... In fact they don't even look like they are displaying normal maps at all... what the hell

the only thing I can think of is that the control file that you need for md3 creation must have some extra stuff in it for this , but I cant find any from the game to check

There is none - already looked.

Essentially it works as follows:

- .qc file contains info about texture name, so you can have multiple surfaces.
- Spec is encoded into normal map alpha mask.
- a master file tells the engine what type of effect to give everything. So chrome, mirror etc.

That’s all. Very confusing...?

Yeah, seems like they make new materials that manage the whole texture system, thats how they reduced the texture amount leaving only 20% of the original textures and duplicating them on other levels.

Just an update, I am still doing this, but real life has taken a few different turn recently, what with my op and everything that may be soon.

So I’ll get to doing some new stuff soon. But the forums and site will be closing come December. I’ll be making a statement about it all at some point. Right now, my hearts not in anything really. So just trying to stay afloat.
